Four People Shot at Howe Community Park – Unauthorized Event Descends into Chaos
On April 18 2026, an unapproved gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento descended into chaos when upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the area as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were working to breaking up the gathering.
A Timeline of Events
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff got reports about people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park. A second report described a potential fight and individuals running from the park.
A sheriff's helicopter was called in and conducted an aerial search but did not locate any active disturbance.
Despite this, multiple hundreds of people had come together at Howe Community Park for what law enforcement classified as an unlawful gathering. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies positioned themselves around the park, activated emergency lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over their vehicle speakers.
As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were discharged — causing hundreds to flee in panic.
Those Injured
Four people — a female and three male victims, all believed to be in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. At the Scene
The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side side of the park in the vicinity of the Home Depot store at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot store was briefly website placed on lockdown. Additional shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with bullet impacts found in the wrought iron fence adjacent to the Home Depot store — pointing to shots fired in a southward direction from the Cottage Way area toward the Home Depot parking lot. Suspects
Through scanner communications, it was indicated that a vehicle of interest — described as a Kia vehicle — was detained in nearby Solano County with four people in custody. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video analysis confirmed two separate shooters.
